The family-run Metsavenna Meierei is based in Vastse-Roosa, Võrumaa, near the Latvian border. The farm and dairy share a roof, and the cheese and other dairy products are made with organic milk from their own cows.
The Farm in Box machine offers curd cheese, cheese, milk, kefir and yoghurt. Alongside local produce, the selection includes French Comté and Morbier from Marcel Petite.
The machine is open 24/7 and accepts card payments. It helps the producer keep costs down without keeping the shop open all weekend. Residents and visitors can buy food late in the evening, even in this small border village.
A place with a story
Metsavenna has welcomed visitors to its tourism farm since 1999. Guests can learn about the Forest Brothers, join guided tours and take part in cheesemaking workshops.
